Zhan Zhuang

Standing practice, taught properly - live, online and one to one

→ Why choose this training?

From the outside, almost nothing happens in Zhan Zhuang: you stand still. Inside, it is one of the most demanding and rewarding practices in the whole of Qigong. "Standing like a post" builds structure, root, deep relaxation and - most importantly - a tangible, first-hand awareness of Qi that no moving form can shortcut. It is the practice that quietly upgrades every other practice you have.

This course teaches a special Yang form of Zhan Zhuang - a structured practice built from a number of different standing postures, each introduced, held and refined in turn. Far from "just standing", it is a complete method in its own right.

Zhan Zhuang is also the practice most often done badly. Locked knees, lifted shoulders, a collapsed chest, a tilted pelvis, forced breathing, gritted endurance mistaken for progress - small errors that turn a profound method into an uncomfortable chore, and that are almost impossible to catch on your own. This is precisely why the course is taught one to one by Seb: you are seen, corrected in real time, and the pace is adjusted to your body rather than to a syllabus.

What You Will Learn

Benefits

Within the tradition, consistent standing practice is valued for strengthening the legs and root, correcting posture, releasing chronic tension, calming the mind and cultivating the stillness in which real awareness of Qi becomes possible. Stillness allows awareness; awareness makes the Qi tangible; tangibility gives feedback; and feedback is what turns repetition into skill.
